Proper Concrete Care & Maintenance, Concrete Repair, Concrete Leveling & Concrete Restoration

While regular wash and reseal maintenance is important to the quality and longevity of your stamped concrete, so is record keeping. By investing just a few minutes to keep these records, you will prolong the life of your stamped concrete investment.

WINTER CARE:

While concrete is one of the most durable products available for your home, proper care is a requirement for long-lasting beauty and wear. One of the most damaging elements to a new concrete surface is the use of deicers, especially during the first winter. Here are a few tips to properly care for your decorative concrete during the winter months:

Avoid using deicers that include the following ingredients as they can increase the number of freeze/thaw cycles the concrete must go through, and can damage and rapidly disintegrate the concrete:

  • Rock Salt
  • Calcium Chloride
  • Sodium Chloride
  • Ammonium Sulfate
  • Ammonium Nitrate
  • Urine By-Products

Keep the concrete surface clear of snow, ice, and water as much as possible to prevent scaling of the concrete. This is most common for surfaces less than a year old because water penetrates the surface and freezes which causes the concrete break apart. Use sand or cat litter for traction in the winter season instead of common deicers used on most surfaces.

It is recommended that you reseal your concrete surface before a winter season especially before the start of the second winter after the concrete is poured as this can restore color and protect your surface for winters to come.
